Trend Report — Bohemian Rhapsody

The 70’s, they’ve been back for a while. Actually, it’s the 70’s with a 21st century twist for spring 2015. Everything we loved about fashion then — fringe, a-line skirts, stacked heels, flared legs and high waists, with a up-to-date, clean twist. This version of the bohemian women is simpler, cooler, never over done.  She pairs her flares and flowy dresses with current, modern accessories.

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things!

Planning a trip for the holidays? Or, maybe a quick weekend getaway? If you’re anything like me, you plan your arrival at the airport, with just enough time to make it through security and as little time as possible hanging out in the dreary waiting areas. It’s stressful but it beats waiting for hours. Now, there is an alternative! Fred Segal has opened its doors at LAX (Tom Bradley International Terminal)! Now I think I’ll forgo sweating out my timing, arrive early, and enjoying some shopping before my flight!!

The 2,200 square foot vision with a digital greenery exterior (a nod to the Fred Segal on Melrose) is packed full of LA hometown hero’s such as Clare Vivier (bags), Cotton Citizen (basics), J Brand (denim), Baxter of California (grooming) and Cast of Vices (jewelry). Merchandising magic-maker Marcus Laxamana has done an ace job building unique style vibes throughout the boutique, creating a condensed version of Fred Segal’s signature shop-in-shop experience.

There’s nothing like combining 2 of my favorite things – shopping and traveling!!

Parker Seguin Tanks & Their Perfect Partners

When I saw the Parker sequin cross back tank I knew it was something I had to share with you. After a little more browsing I came upon a few more sequin tanks that I fell for and they all seemed to have one thing in common – all were designed by Parker!

They’re all beautiful and uber chic, and will bring shine and sparkle to any holiday party or romantic dinner date. My favorite style has to be Parker’s aforementioned sequin cross back tank (328.00 designed exclusively for Intermix), the cross over back falls open to reveal a smidgen of the lower back ( simple & sexy) and falls slightly longer in the back. When paired with Jitrois’ flared leather pants you’ll go from Wow! to off the charts AMAZING.

If you’re in need of an outfit to impress the boss at the next holiday party (yours… or your guys), this is the one!

Fall’s Luscious Sweaters That Are To Die For!!

As the summer begins to simmer down, you may soon find yourself reaching for a sweater to beat the crisp autumn weather. With so many different options and such versatile ways to wear them, you can easily find a great fall sweater that’s perfect for lounging around at home, running errands, or even to pair with a pencil skirt for a new look at the office.

This season puts a new twist on an old classic by incorporating small details like zippers, studs, buttons, and bold graphics. One that I’ll be adding to my pile is the ultra cool Baji ribbed pullover by J Brand, the side zip gives it a modern and fresh feel. Likewise for Theyskens’ Theory sweater vest with it’s elongated sides.

When it comes to fall sweaters, let’s just say one can never have enough!!

Things I’m Coveting This Week

If I could have everything I wanted this week, these 6 things would be front and center in my Q of coveted things. I’m lovin the sunny yellow Helmet Lang draped jersy dress, this runway style embodies the label’s signature balance of soft draping and urban edge – keep the look balanced with chunky sandals and a hard-hitting bag. J Brand jeans has just launched their brand new ready-to-wear collection and it is fabulous – my fav is the relaxed-fit, long sleeved mink leather blazer.

Not everything we covet has to be expensive, case in point, Gap’s grey textured knit boatneck sweater (totally reasonable at $59.00) which also rocks an off the shoulder look. Diptyque candles are some of the best on the market and now in this mouth-blown claret colored glass, they are some of the most beautiful too (approximate burning time 90 hours).

Stellar Sale Finds – All Under $100

If you are anything like us, the holidays have tapped you out (in more ways than one). The checkbook is reading on the low side and credit cards have been maxed out. But knowing that stores have slashed prices to make room for the new season makes now a good time to invest in some stupendous pieces at incredible bargains.

We’ve curated a small list of awe-inspiring finds, all of which are on sale for $90.00 or less, and on each of their retail websites you’ll also find oodles of other deals. One of our favorites is the Halston Heritage purple silk halterneck dress; it retails for $365.00 but is on sale for $87.60 – now that is a steal. We are also jonesing for the Steve Madden brown leather boot that we know we’ll wear for years – retails for $225.00, on sale for $84.98.

So scrape together the pennies, brown bag it for a couple of days, do anything you need to not miss out on the deals that are out there. But before you enter in those credit card digits, pause and ask yourself – Will I wear this? and Do I love It? A deal isn’t a deal if it sits in your closet unworn.

Get The Look For Less: Charlize Theron Of Young Adult

Charlize Theron loooked simply chic while attending the Times Talks with Jason Reitman at The New York Times Building on December 9th, 2011.

Charlize, a former model turned Oscar winning actress has the legs many of us would die for. She takes advantage of her lengthy assets by wearing skinny jeans by J Brand and strapey Givenchy heels. On top she pairs a Thakoon blouse under a black tailored blazer from one of her favorite go to designers – Stella McCartney.

Charlize gains savvy style knowledge with the help of her stylist, Leslie Fremar, who encourages her to wear only what flatters her figure. Charlize has always been partial to a chic and sophisticated wardrobe including tailored blouses, blazers and classic colors for when she travels. Currently, she can be seen on the silver screen in her new movie Young Adult, where she plays a disheveled character who is the antithesis to her real life stylish self.

Get The Look For Less: Claudia Schiffer Debuts Her New Cashmere Collection

“The idea of it is effortless chic – it’s based on my life and the clothes I need. I have 15 minutes to get dressed in the morning before taking the children to school – I want to throw on clothes but still look chic, then I want to go from school to a meeting and then out for dinner by only changing a handbag or a necklace or something.” Sounds like the cries of every working women/moms that we know, but it’s actually Claudia Shiffer, a true blond beauty, commenting on her vision for her new Ready-To-Wear line.

The 30 piece cashmere capsule collection which features cardigans, dresses, sweaters, and a cape in mainly beiges, greys, and dark blues with prices that range from $475.00 to $700.00, debuted Wednesday, August 3rd, on Net-a-Porter. Schiffer, who was primarily concerned with  the clothes ease and quality hired Iris Von Arnim’s company to produce, manufacture and distribute the line, while she designs the goods. Arnim’s company has 40 years experience and are experts at delivering quality goods.

If the rest of the designs look as good as what Claudia donned to present her line in Paris – her own plaid tunic dress paired with zip-up J Brand pants and black booties – then we are in for a treat. But if she’s not quite in your price point, we have put together a look that is equally chic.

J Brand & Christopher Kane- At It Again

 

There was Batman and Robin, Jordan and Pippin, Eminem and Dr. Dre; could J Brand and Christopher Kane be the next Dynamic Duo?

Christopher Kane, who recently won the British Fashion Council’s 2011 BFC/Vogue Award, just announced he will collaborate with premium denim label, J Brand, on a capsule denim collection that will premiere as part of his Resort 2011 collection.Kane admirers will remember that he paired with J Brand in 2010  for their 5×5 Project supporting emerging British fashion talent. The five designers- Peter Pilotto, Richard Knoll, Christopher Kane, Meadham Kirchoff and Erdem Moralioglu-each customized a pair of jeans for J Brand with extrordinary results-the jeans flew off the shelves.

“I am very excited about my new working relationship with J Brand,” Kane said in a release. “We have the potential to grow a very strong denim business and are thrilled to be working with the best in the business.”

The capsule collection will also contain other J Brand fabrics and will be available in both J Brand and Christopher Kane stores. The best part? It is rumored that the price point will be lower than Kane’s Ready-to-Wear, so will be attainable by more than just those whose wallets can handle designer prices.
