This Week’s Wish List

Wish list

Wish List

Wishing doesn’t always make it so, but it’s a start. To focus my desirous energy I decided to whittle down my list to my top 3 choices. Not easy, but here goes.

Saint Laurent Opium Logo-Heel Pumps: I love the use of the logo as the design of the heel, and my curiosity is piqued. Are these shoes made for walking?

Tata Harper’s Rejuvenating Serum: Since the winter weather has taken a toll on my skin, and my best friend (as well as Gwyneth) swears by its benefits. And, because it is non-toxic and organic.

Spinelli Kilcollin Women’s Vega SG Pavé Ring: I literally can not stop thinking about these rings since I discovered them a year ago. This one makes my heart sing!

I love everything on this list, so I wouldn’t balk if any of the above lovelies made its way into my home, but it’s always nice to have a jumping off point.

My other, intangible wish is for refugees to be welcome the world over. Help refugees, forced to flee their home, and give them a chance to rebuild their lives. Donate here or here. Get involved here.

As the founding principal of Alegria Design, an interior design business in San Francisco, New York and Tokyo, Maya Lithander Smith has an eye for taste. One simply has to view how she transformed her Marina home in San Francisco (above) to know the level of her interior design expertise.

Known for her “eclectic style that fuses approachable elegance and refined yet exotic details” Maja is now bringing her amazing treasure hunting skills to a brick and mortar space on Sacramento street in San Francisco. After living in Tokyo for over 3 years, and globe-trotting around the world for 2 decades searching for exotic finds for her clients, Maya has now curated and collaborated with some of her favorite designers and artisans from around the world to bring these global goods to more than just her clients. Lucky us! If you are a lover of colorful, beautiful, and in many cases one-of-a-kind home furnishings and accessories then this newly opened store is a must visit!

Some of my favorites are the Turkish bamboo towels, silk velvet Ikat pillows, mixed pattern napkins and the one-of-a-kind finds. Shop my favs below, or go to Found by Maja.

Is Your Home In Need Of A Polish?

Chic and Modern in Chicago

Chic and Modern in Chicago

The idea of hiring an interior designer can be daunting. What if we end up with polar opposites tastes? Do I have enough $$ to see this through? They bought me what…..? Home Polish to the rescue! They’ve made designing your home/room a little easier. Scratch that, a lot easier!

Homepolish has completely upended the traditional interior design model. They bypass commissions and product markups and charge a flat hourly fee. Whether it’s a small space redo, or a huge renovation (gut the thing), they have it under control.

You start with a 1 hour in-home consultation ( $50 or $80/ Junior and Senior rates). If you don’t gel you can walk away, or they will tweak the matchmaking process and send another designer to your house. From there, you buy their time by the hour (with a 5 hour minimum), $100 per hour for junior designers, and $130 per hour for seniors. Every hour is spent on you, from picking paint colors to sending you furniture options to gut renovating your space.

And, working with a Homepolish designer automatically grants you access to their Swatch discount program, saving you money at trusted brands like West Elm and AllModern. What is stopping you? Turn your home into your castle with a little help from Homepolish!
