Gwyneth Paltrow bundles up in NYC last week in Rag & Bone’s jacket and jeans, Yves Saint Laurent’s purse and Laurence Dacade ankle boots. Her vibrant red coat pairs perfectly with her grey boots and purse, while giving the neutral toned ensemble a burst of color . The blue-red hue look fabulous on blondes!
Strolling in LA last week, Miranda Kerr, takes casual up a notch with a bag and shoes by Celine, a classic Stella McCartney blazer, Mulberry scarf, Miu Miu sunglasses and skinny ankle cropped jeans by Frame. The reason this look works so well: the mixture of prints with classic silhouettes such as the blazer, ankle cropped jeans and tote handbag; along with urban chic, tres cool flats; and a small dose of edge with cat-eyed sunglasses.
Olivia Wilde, seen in Los Angeles at the Django Unchained screening, dons black pants and vest by ALC. Olivia keeps her look minimal with pulled back hair and nominal jewelry (long chain necklace). She makes it sexy with smokey cat eyes, pointy toe pumps and wearing her vest bare.
Kerry Washington steps out in a Peter Pilotto dress featuring a halter neckline, ruffled skirt and contrasting patterns at a Django Unchained photo call in Rome. Kerry, one of the stars of the movie, looked fresh, modern and stunning. She paired her dress with a pair of Nicholas Kirkwood print pumps that picked up two colors from her dress (the reason the shoes worked so well). Another reason this ensemble works so well is Kerry’s restraint in the accessory department when wearing a design this detailed.
Kathrine McPhee, at a NBC’S TCA event in Pasadena, California, wears a sheer mullet dress/lace-up high-tops combo that is totally confusing. This is the perfect example of mixing oranges with your apples – each are fine on their own, but when worn together…..What was she thinking??? A pair of black wedge ankle boots or green high heels would take this look from sad to fab! The lace-up high-tops are better suited to a pair of skinny jeans.

Emma Robert’s, wearing a diamond print Nanette Lepore suit, attended the Vogue Eyewear & CFDA Unveiling of the “Emma” sunglasses at Sunglass Hut in New York City – part of the celebrity collaboration with Nanette Lepore. Her printed suit comes off as chic rather than over-the-top due to the slim silhouette and neutral colors. The red Claire Vivier clutch adds a touch of vibrant color in an understated way.
Elle Fanning, in a strapless Rochas , at the premier of Ginger and Rosa at the 2012 BFI London Film Festival, couldn’t have looked more dashing (and grown up)! Elle’s printed long dress avoids looking over whelming from its muted colors and the addition of her mint colored cardigan lends a softness to her stunning look. Love the addition of her lace choker – on trend and modern femininity at its best!
Blake Lively on Gossip Girl’s NYC set in Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent’s Shawl Collar Ikat Blazer and CO-OP Barney’s Vintage Leather Studded Buckle Boots. Blake’s look is rock star chic with just the right amount of edge and print – her black skinny jeans and black cashmere wrap scarf tone down her Ikat print jacket.
Watch out Beyonce! Solange Knowles, looked ravishing in Dolce & Gabbana at the 2012 American Ballet Theatre Gala in New York city. The multi-coloured floral and cherub scene print dress with a flared skirt was paired perfectly with Dolce & Gabbana pumps with opulent gold embellishments and the perfect amount of gold jewelry. Solange’s sleek, straight locks and cherry red lips perfectly complemented her ensemble.
Karolina Kurkova, in Robert Cavalli, attended Bergdorf Goodman’s 111th Anniversary bash held at The Plaza Hotel in New York City. Her Cavalli pant suit may own a bold detailed print but the highneck white silk blouse and black satin lapel anchors the eye and keeps the look firmly planted in chicness. Her selection of Christian Louboutin silver pointy toe pumps and slicked back hair are impeccable accessories.

Jennifer Lawrence, at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association luncheon in Beverly Hills, takes a classic pencil skirt/pump combo and gives them a sexy update along with a dose of edge. You can always count on snake print to give a look some edge while a form-fitting deep v-neck top takes it to va-va voom sexy.
Jordana Brewster in London Temperly, looking smashingly feminine at the Miss Me album release party in Los Angeles, takes on a few of fall’s biggest trends in one dress – lace, the ladylike look and blush color.
Kelly Rowland goes down under at the David Jones 2012/2013 season launch and comes up looking fantastic! Take a tip from Kelly by taking a chic sheath to the uber chic level by combining navy and black.
Kerry Washington, also at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association luncheon in Beverly Hills, looks pretty in pink Christian Dior Skater dress with red stripes. The skater dress silhouette is still trending strong for fall/winter. Make sure to pair it with pointy toe pumps to keep the look fresh and modern.
Taking Canada by style storm, Rachel Zoe debuts her fall 2012 collection at a Vancouver Holt Renfrew store in a long sequin jacket, a shawl-collar blouse and flared black trousers. For all you ladies who think you’re not tall enough for a longer blazer, think again – Rachel stands 5′ 7″. Keep the bottom and blazer monochromatic or similar shades of the same color for an elongated look.
Sophie Bush, also celebrating the Miss Me release in L.A., opts for a more rocker-chic ensemble – sporting a leg-baring peach Erin by Erin Fetherston mini with an embellished (another fall trend) plunging neckline. If you’ve got the legs this is a great way to don a sexy look but to avoid looking overdone keep the accessories simple. The dress would also look great over a pair of cropped black slim trousers.

Jennifer Lopez at her new fragrance, Glowing, launch in Los Angeles shows how to dress up a short ensemble. The pointy toe pumps and silk blouse lend the shorts an air of sophistication – making it perfect for evening. Try adding a short fitted blazer to complete the look.
Gwyneth Paltrow takes a pair of blue jeans to another dimension by adding a 3/4 length sleeve cropped blazer. Love the pop of color and the grey/purple color combo — very chic! For an edgy look make sure to add an oversized bag.
Ginnifer Goodwin, at an ABC Entertainment event, goes mod in a leather Jonathan Saunders sheath with a graphically patterned skirt. The classic silhouette tames the bold pattern – love the red/white/black color combo and the burst of red in a mini clutch.
One of my style icons, Charlize Theron, always is a fashion standout. At a Snowwhite and the Huntsman premiere she sports a Bottega Veneta ensemble. This black and white look gets texture with a patterned skirt — love the dichotomy of the delicate and sexy metallic heeled sandals, and the addition of bold-red lipstick is a subtle way of adding vibrant color.
Another favorite of mine, Emmanuelle Alt – editor of Vogue Paris, adds flair to one of her favorite silhouettes – skinny cropped pants and blazer. The shoe must be fabulous (cropped pants give them much attention) and the new pointy toe trend lends femininity to an edgy leather pant. The subtle soft blue tee adds a dose of color while softening her look.

After seeing the Equipment “Baily” polka dot blouse (top left corner) at Elyse Walker in Los Angeles last week, I knew it was coming home with me. I love the simplicity of the mandarin collar and the see through fabric — perfect for dressing up a pencil skirt or trousers, not to mention it lends the shirt an air of sex-appeal. Equipment blouses can rock a casual pair of bluejeans, turning it into casual-chic combo that reads GLAM!
This blouse comes in an array of colors (I’m talking over 20), prints and a few delectable fabrics. With so many choices, one is bound to tickle your fancy. I’m mad about the mini polka dot print in my shirt. The small dot print is right on trend for Spring without being boisterous or brazen.
Above are a few of my favorites – I can’t wait to find them a new home……… in my closet!!

Favorite Resort 2012 Looks
It’s a new year and a time to look forward towards new beginnings, and what better to start us on our journey than the prelude to spring – Resort 2012. Theses our my 21 favorite looks from the Resort 2012 collections, the ones I would die to add to my wardrobe (hopefully a few of them will). But even the ones that don’t make it into my closet will make for great inspiration while I am planning my spring wardrobe and updating my style.
I recommend going over to Style.com and perusing the Resort and Spring 2012 collections to get your inspiration. It’s a wealth of imagery that will inspire many ideas. Which designer is your favorite? Whose collection resonates with you? Do you see a style that “says you” or maybe there’s a designer whose “look” you’ve been wanting to try?
Whether you want to fine tune your style or do a total overhaul – a fresh, new beginning – this is a great time to start! Let me know who inspires you this season.

The Denim Shirt
I’ve been obsessed with my denim shirt these past few days so it’s been working over time and doing double duty. Mine is from American Apparel, but alas it’s not in stock so I gathered up these other amazing options from J Crew, Lucky Brand, Wrangler and Joe’s Jeans (available at Chelsea’s store in Los Angeles).
We’ve all worn our denim shirts casually either with shorts, jeans or cordaroy pants but there is a new way to update your denim shirt. If you want to lend a little edge to your denim shirt and bring it into the realm of chicness, pair it with a pencil skirt – short or below the knee, they both look smashing. For a unique twist wear one side pulled out (ala Taylor Tomasi-Hill below) – my new fav way to wear it, or tuck it in and pair it with a great belt. For more edge I wore mine with my Stuart Weisman over the knee leather boots and my Cynthia Desser droozy necklace and cuff.

I’ve been obsessed with my Paper Crown – Lauren Conrad’s new line – bright navy blazer ever since my closet became it’s new home a few weeks ago. I’ve been wearing it with my boyfriend jeans and simple tee’s or with casual tee shirt dresses and am just loving it.
Besides the pop of color it adds to my basic jeans/tee outfits, I love that it contains 4% spandex for a snug fit that’s extremely comfortable. For my birthday dinner at Hal’s in Venice, I decided to dress it up. As my present to myself (have to wear something new on the bday), I got the new Haute Hippie Lace Shorts ($225.00) and paired it with a Hanes wife beater ( they also looks fantastic when paired with a black silk blouse), opaque tights and my Zigi Soho Alison platform ankle booties (marked down to $39,90). The cherry on top was my Cynthia Desser druzy necklace – my bday present from the designer herself – which has ownly left my neck when I sleep.
To score the best deal on Hane’s wife beaters (can’t they come up with another name for that) buy them at Target for $9.99 for a package of 5 ( in store only) or at target.com for the premium cotton – package of 6 for $22.99. Such the deal!! I buy them in mens x-small and shrink them down. You can get the Paper Crown Blazer ($265.00), which also comes in black, at Chelsea’s in Brentwood (310)471-4770.
I love when I come home after a long day of shopping for others and find a package at my doorstep, especially when I am waiting for goodies that are for me. Yesterday, it was my pencil skirt from Zara that arrived. My curiosity is always peaked after buying clothes online, there are the times when the clothes arrive looking nothing like they did on line. Since the skirt only set me back $30.00, I was especially curious.
I am happy to report the skirt is better than I had expected. A true score!! It’s a jersey knit fabric with a zipper in the back and falls about an inch above the knee, form fitting but comfortable. The fabric is soft and the quality is good. I bought the one in black and it’s a deep true black, one that can be matched easily with other blacks.
I know I have said my peace regarding the importance of the pencil skirt to a rad wardrobe in the past, but really, a girl can never have to many. It follows the same principal as black pants, jeans and black heels. This will be my fourth but I swear they all have their own distinguishing characteristics, making each one a little different than the others.
The skirt, called the sheath skirt, also comes in a deep blue and grey. With a price tag of $30.00, I think I’ll order the other two colors!
Skirt can be purchased at zara.com, in Black (Left), Grey (Middle) and Deep Blue (Right).

It’s been a while since I’ve had a style crush, but boy have I fallen hard for Marie Claire’s accessory editor, Taylor Tomasi-Hill’s, chic and undeniably cool style. Taylor, who previously was the fashion editor for Teen Vogue, is said to be the muse for Prabal Gurung and is rumored to be the new fashion director at Barneys New York.
Taylor is known for mixing feminine pieces with boyish or edgier items, quickly became a favorite among bloggers for her whimsical yet sophisticated style. She describes her fashion style as ” a clothing chameleon. My style is something that’s always evolving.”
She counts Rick Owens, Ann Demeulemeester and Proenza Schouler as her go-to designers, and considers Barneys as a home away from home. The editor has become a style icon for her model-like body, flame red hair (she is secretive as to which hairdresser maintains her red hair, although she has revealed they are on the east side in Manhattan).
Recently, Refinery 29, sat down with Tomasi-Hill and asked her what her five key wardrobe pieces were. We believe her answers are what will keep this style icon a favorite among us style bloggers
1. “Burberry trench coats, a great classic staple for fall or spring.”
2. “Madewell destroyed boyfriend jeans, I dress them up with my YSL heels for the office, or down with sneakers for traveling.”
3. “Punkrose leopard print sneakers, my go-to for days when my feet can’t take anything over .5 inches.”
4. “Chanel bag, I just got a large 2.55 after years of lusting after it. This one is the perfect carryall. My other tiny Chanel bags were always exploding with all the stuff I would try to pack in them.”
5. “My Rick Owens leather jacket, I can mix it with anything for an edgier effect. They are so expensive, but I stay on their radar and email list to make sure I’m always there for the sales.”

While strolling the web for some new fabulous additions to my closet a few nights ago, I came across these dynamite and super sexy leopard print cords by Isabele Marant on netaporter.com. It didn’t take me long before I was pulling out my credit card and having them 2nd day aired to me. They are even better in person and are super soft and fit like a glove.
Pair them with a platform ankle boot and a black dolman sleeved Bella Lux top (available at Chelsea Brentwood for the low price of $48.00), and you create a look that can easily go from a day of shopping to a night on the town. I have since turned these on to a few clients of mine who also went gaga over them and they are running low on sizes, so hurry to get these fab Isabele Marant pants before they disappear.
A little sizing tip – they run size 0-3, I am a 6 and I took a size 1. I have only found them available at netaporter.com and the Isabele Marant boutique in Soho, New York.

When adding to my collection of handbags I always consider the longevity of the style, at least if I am going to lay down some serious cash for it. In acquiring the latest addition to my wardrobe, the new Kate Spade Cobble Hill Ellen cross-over handbag, I got the benefit of a great price – $225.00 , and a classic style that is going to be around for a while.
I love the casualness of the cross-body style and the size is perfect; small enough not to weigh me down and big enough to carry my daily essentials. The outside zip pocket gives me easy access to my phone, keys or moola. The leather is tres` soft and only gets better with age and each color comes with its own unique lining.
It comes on-line in smoke and black and in the stores also comes in red and cognac. I choose smoke because my need for a black purse isn’t that great ( okay, it doesn’t exist at all) and the smoke will go with blacks, browns, denim and beyond. But… with red being such a big color this fall, I am extremely tempted to get it in that color too.

Not to sound like a broken record, but…. I just finished ordering my t-shirt of the month from Style Mint, and wanted to let all of you who don’t know about Stylemint.com, in on those amazing Olsen twins latest retail adventure .
It’s affordable, easy and hand-picked for your very own fashion style. Just $29.99 a month gets you the t-shirt of your choice, simply pick the one that screams “you” from a selection of tee’s sent to you each month. If you don’t vibe with any of the selections they send you, either wait to next month or look over a few different yet equally enticing choices .
You’re probably asking yourself, “How do they decide what to send me, my tastes aren’t like everybody else’s? Osmosis?” Actually, it’s much easier than that. You start by answering a few questions about your fashion sense which helps the twins decipher your style, then every month you will get a selection of 4 t-shirts tailor chosen with you in mind.
There is no obligation to buy, but at the low price of $29.99 and chic, fashionable tee’s to choose from, I am sure you will want to. This month I choose the printed tee – I am almost not crazy (kinda fits my personality). Above are my 4 tee’s for the month of September. Join stylemint.com today and find out what your tee’s will be.

Dree Hemingway, pictured here at the Brant Foundation Luncheon on June 19, 2011, rocked a t-shirt and high-waisted column skirt from Johan Lindeberg’s new line BLK DNA. This season the midi and mini skirt’s are soaking up most of the attention, but the maxi is still going strong.
My new obsession in maxi skirts is the high-waisted column maxi. Not only can it make a simple white t-shirt look chic but can be dressed up or down depending on your mood. The version Dree is wearing by BLK DNA has a fish tail so if accessorized correctly can be worn quite dressy.
What also makes the long column siloheute fabulous is it’s slenderizing properties and the fact that it makes your legs look crazy long. Who doesn’t love that!

Sorry for the snafu this morning, this is the picture of my friends fabulous Moyna New York Bag, taken @ Gjelina, that I was referring to in this mornings post!
Last night was girls night and I had the pleasure of hanging with my habitually chic girlfriend Celine Mares, her equally chic sister Peggy, owner of the clothing line Velvet Torch, and their trainer Erin McFarland at Gjelina’s in Venice, Ca. Gjelina’s is hands down one of my top three favorite restaurants and with a 2 week wait for a reservation, seems I am not the only one. Thank God for friends in the right places.
As usual, I had to have part of Celine ‘s outfit – this time it was her Moyna hand beaded peace evening bag (her favorite symbol). To die for!!
Moyna Singh began her obsession with Asian handicraft in 1985 when she became closely involved with the design and manufacturing of handcrafted home accessories in India. She soon started a business in the United States devoted to designing and manufacturing handcrafted fashion accessories such as handbags, scarves, headbands and accessories for the home.
Moyna’s expertise with and knowledge of Asian Indian beads, fabrics and colors makes her accessories unique and of the up-most quality. Her handbags and fashion accessories are individually hand beaded and embroidered by skilled artisans in India, using traditional beading techniques, and with most of her handbag’s beading done on 100% silk.
Moyna New York is carried in stores and hotels all over the world, including but not limited to; Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Saks 5th Avenue, The Wynn Las Vegas, The Four Seasons Mexico and Gerard Darel in Paris.
Below are some of my favorites from her website.

My favorite piece of my clothing, a cashmere black ribbed Vince to-the-hip-cardigan, is nothing too fancy but is super cozy and I have worn it for years. Leggings, jeans, mini skirts – I almost wish I had bought 2.
The Cardigan is a versatile, fashionable staple and at the very least, a black one should be in every closet – if not more. Whether it’s long and drapes at the side via Helmet Lang – which can add a touch of pizzaz to a pair of jeans and platforms – or a floral short cardigan found in your favorite second-hand store – adds a touch of femininity to your boyfriend jeans – they are the perfect finishing touch to most any outfit. I love to wear super short cardigans (almost shrug like) with dresses and platform ankle boots for date night.
They are a great alternative to a light weight coat and can be as cozy as your most worn in sweatshirt. Cashmere, cotton, wool , silk or any combination there of, there should be one or two that call your closet home.
Scope out the selection of cardigans I have curated and am eager to give a home to. Unless, of course, you can take them off my hands?

HAPPINESS IS CHIC!!
When I wake up in the morning I love to think about what I am going to wear, it’s practically the first thing I think about. What am I going to ensemble from my closet to make a smashing outfit. It’s my creative outlet – that and our blog. But if I’m in a dour mood, no matter how amazing my outfit, I don’t feel quite as chic as I do when I’m HAPPY.
I know how easy our in-boxes can get inundated with email and subscribing to another blog can seem overwhelming (except, of course, curtaorsofstyle.com), but adding The Daily Love is one I have never regretted. Neither will you.
The Daily Love was created by Mastin Kipp in 2005 under the original name “Thoughts for the Day”. Kipp embarked upon a journey in 2004 to find his true purpose and figure out the techniques to best manifest Highest Potential. Along the way he figured there must have been other people who have come before him who’ve met with the same challenges he was facing to find true happiness and inner peace.
His search drove him deeper into reading book after book after book, attending seminars, soaking up the wisdom traditions and always looking deeper for more insight on how to improve the human condition. After starting to share his thoughts and findings on My Space he ventured on to Facebook and was pestered by a friend to start a twitter account.
In August of 2009, after almost a year of posting quotes on Twitter and sending emails, Kim Kardashian suggested to her over 2 million followers that they should follow @TheDailyLove. Over night, The Daily Love went from 1,000 followers to 10,000 and now has over 300,000 followers on Twitter and is growing!
Described by Mastin as a free daily e- mutivitamin for your soul, reading The Daily Love not only makes me HAPPY but makes me CHIC by extension.
What Makes These Celebrities Looks Spectacular? Read on to find out why!
Clockwise from top left:
Rosie Hunnington Whitely – It’s easy to shy away from pink for fear of being too”girlie”, but Rosie’s look is anything but. Her chose of a rose-pink, bell sleeved dress will easily transition into fall. The light brown accessories Rosie added, keeps the look soft and feminine while avoiding a “bubblegum” look. The leather boots and handbag add texture to the look and I am loving the brown/pink color combination.
Emma Stone – Crazily enough, this look works perfectly. Emma’s chose of cheetah print Brian Atwood pumps to accessorize her bright, almost neon, green Dolce and Gabbana lace sheath, says fun and elegance. The simple style of both the shoes and dress enable the colors to work together, and Emma’s use of her hair color as an accessory to tie in the color of her shoes, was brilliant.
Frieda Pinto – Frieda’s neon yellow Michael Kors shift doesn’t scream 1980’s but does say 2011 with its simplicity. The sleek black lines in the dress and the black shoes keep the look grounded in present day fashion. I love the detail of the criss cross straps of Frieda’s platform sandals.
Miranda Kerr – This is a great way to wear lace for fall. This fall trend looks superb in red, which, along with wine shades are going to be big color trends come next season. The light gathers in the skirt and the dip of the hem give this look a feminine touch while maintaining its sex appeal, and avoids a too sultry, brash look.
Charlize Theron – When does this woman not look fabulous? She sports another trend for fall – metallics. Her Chole embellished top is toned down by a tailored white blazer, cigarette black pants and is topped off with Lanvin tan sandles. Charlize’s chose to pair her metallic top with neutral colors and tailored designs makes this a perfect way to sport metallic in the day. To segue into night remove or change the blazer to black and add a dressy sandal or platform pump.
Kate Beckinsale. Kate lets her locks down and her hemlines up with this Tibi LBD. She definitely is going short yet simple – a trend that will carry over from summer into fall. She keeps her look simple while maintaining an edge, and avoids a short, skin-tight look with a bell skirt. The touch of satin Jimmy Choo pumps and a simple Isharya bangle keeps Kate looking sexy while preserving an aura of lady like demure.I love that the bodice of the dress is pure classic with the crew neck and to-the-elbow sleeve length.
Speaking of shoes, I couldn’t resist letting you in on the latest addition to my closet. I have been obsessed with sandals this summer and was on the look out for a cheap thrill that wouldn’t break my budget, but was still fabulous, when I spotted these puppies at Elyse Walker in Pacific Palisades.
At $60.00 they fit all criteria and I flipped over the Rose Gold color. The classic thong style will still be in fashion long after I have worn them out.
At this price they won’t be around for long, so what are you waiting for, hurry out to get your pair.
The Little White Dress
The Little White Dress, sister to the Little Black Dress, has always lived in the shadows of it’s sister and it is time it received the props it’s due. Think of it as the summer version of the LBD and for a well curated closet is as equally important to own. In fact, your closet should have 2 to 3 different styles in a variation of fabrics.
Like the LBD, the LWD, is super easy to wear – just throw it on, accessorize with the perfect shoes, bag and jewelry – Voila, you are out the door. An ideal choice for a picnic or window/actual shopping is a cotton empire waist tank or a long boho style LWD, and a structured version with or with out added detail – I like to add detail with an edge -makes an excellent choice for lunch, museums and nighttime outings. You can also turn up the sex appeal at night with a strapless, form fitting mini. The LWD is versatile too, going easily from day to evening with a quick change of accessories.
Best of all, with stores on sale, NOW is the perfect time to invest in one or MORE LWDs and with the collection I have edited for you, it’s easy.

This past weekend I went pre-fall shopping and scored some dynamite clothes I want to share with you – I even got Chelsea in on the act. Our first stop was one of my favorite stores, Barneys New York, where there was so much we wanted to take home, but we restrained ourselves and each left with our favorite piece. Chelsea scored a vivid cobalt blue silk romper with a skirt overlay from Mason By Michelle Mason – it sets off her blue eyes like nobody’s business. She can wear it now with sandals and in the fall with tights and a leather jacket. I purchased a gray kimono cardigan by Vince that I will save for fall – unless I end up on a late night run to the beach with no one to keep me warm.
Next, over cappuccinos at Cafe Luxe we hit some of our favorite online stores – Top Shop, Net-A-Porter and Diane Von Furstenberg. We found some great bargains and some have-to-have pieces – namely an Eugenia Kim Carly rabbit felt hat from Net-A-Porter and a Diane Von Furstenberg martini wool-blend boucle pencil skirt that had my name on it.
We did find some bargains too, Top Shop had a blue heart lock cross body frame bag that Chelsea fell for and was only $50.00. (also comes in red). And I found a pair of Andre wedge lace-up boots for $136.00 that I am sure to live in this fall.
Hopefully, one or all of these inspired you to break out the credit cards and start your pre-fall shopping – any one (or more) of them will make great additions to your Fall wardrobe.

July 5 , 2011
I was at a pool party today, celebrating the 4th of July, when my girlfriend showed up wearing these super cool shoes that sre a must add to my wardrobe – Sanuk sidewalk surfers.

The brand is best known for its Sidewalk Surfers, often referred to as “Not-A-Shoes”, for their patented sandal construction which allows your feet to bend and flex in natural comfort. Sanuk also leads its industry by using innovative materials in its footwear such as yoga mat and indoor-outdoor carpet.
They are a great alternative to Toms – whether you have too many pairs or just want a different look. They come in many different colors and variations on the main style and are ultra comfortable. Made in mens and womens, I can’t wait to get mine.
We had so many inquiries about who made one of the purses (pictured above) Rachel McAdam’s character carried in Midnight In Paris that I have been trying to track it down. I finally found it and it’s a Chanel Tote bag in suede – it was confirmed when the very next day Erika (a reader) wrote and told us it was a sample. Thanks Erika!
The bag is in their Pre-Fall Collection 2011, but is only available in the United States in black – Europe is carrying the tan color. Here is a picture of the bag in an ultra soft suede calfskin. Hope this helps all of those that were interested.

Meet the newest addition to my closet – the Martinque gladiator sandal. Besides looking fabulous on, the most notable feature of this sandal is it’s ability to do double duty. You can wear it casual with jeans, or pump up a pair of shorts for day and it rocks at night with a little black dress – the perfect date outfit.
Designed by Vince Camuto, this t-strap sandal is made of leather and embellished with tiny, glittering beads for a simple but playful summer sandal. The side strap closure is great for girls with slender ankles and with a price of $98.00 won’t break your bank account.
I choose the coral for a pop of color that can be worn with just about everything but it also comes in White and a smashing Summertime Brown. This is a sandal that looks good on everyone so take advantage of the holiday and get yourself a pair (or two).
Available at Nordstroms and online at www.vincecamuto.com.

Making More Room
I have never met a woman who doesn’t want a bigger closet or at least more room to hang and store her delectables – unless of course you are Oprah or plan on starting the next Facebook like craze.
My closet is especially small (not an exaggeration) but I have come across a few tips to enable my small space to hold more that I would love to share.
Switching to flocked hangers not only will keep your clothes from slipping but gives you up to 40% more space (Yeah!! More Clothes). They come in an array of colors but I always recommend a neutral color to keep the eye focused – much easier to find the item you want. For delicate clothing that needs support they sell shoulder shapers that clip on the hangers.
They haven’t made a bottom version of the flocked hangers with clips that is worth its salt but you can drape your skirt/pant over the bar and still be saving room. For the items you don’t want to or can’t drape I still like the clear plastic bottom hangers.
For those of you with one long bar in your closet for hanging room, another space saver is the Closet Doubler which can turn a single hanging bar into 2. They come in lengths of 2 to 3 feet so enough of the bar is left for long hanging.
Without a doubt, the most difficult items to store are handbags and shoes. There are many clever ways to house shoes-over the door shoe racks take up a small amount of real estate and can hold up to 36 pair of shoes. Expandable shoe racks are another space-saving idea if you have room to utilize on the bottom of your closet. If you still need more space for shoes (and who among us doesn’t) I recommend putting off-season shoes in under the bed containers, they come in predivided sections for easy access.
Handbags are easily housed and accessible on shelves. I have an area outside my closet that I have shelved from the floor up to 6′ which houses my shoes and handbags. Hanging hooks on a wall in or near your closet is not only fun but keeps them readily available, it’s also a great way to hang scarves and belts.

I have a great tip for everyone today, it’s not a fashion tip, in fact, many of you may already know about it. It is Tom Shadyac’s documentary I AM, it is a movie everyone should see-must see!
It’s a movie that asks the practical and provocative questions: what’s wrong with our world, and what can we do to make it better? But ends up finding out what is right with the world. A stimulating movie that will leave you feeling elated, hopeful and empowered. As Howard Zinn explains, “What we do on an individual level, really does effect the global environment.”
My I AM experience was made that much more special by my neighbor-Michelle, a generous soul by nature- treating me to this movie. This is a movie you should run not walk to, so treat a loved one or grab a friend or elderly neighbor and go see this movie. Be what is right with the world.

Let’s face it, the midi, one of this seasons’ it skirts, can be a little stressful to wear-especially in a flattering way-but there are way’s to make it look fabulous and I can prove it.
One of the most important things to remember is that the midi is bisecting the bottom part of your leg, for some girls this doesn’t raise a drop of sweat( don’t hate these girls they probably have ultra vain boyfriends who hog the mirror)but for most of us we need to pay attention to where the skirt is hitting our leg. If your skirt is on the form-fitting side make sure it hits you above the widest part of your calf, if the skirt is flowly and loose it can hit either below or above the widest part of your calf.
If you are wearing a-line skirts, especially ones that have a lot of shape to them, your legs will appreciate you wearing it right at the bottom of your knee. This also solves the problem of you looking too matronly and you can then wear the skirt with flats or heels.
This is the season of color, don’t be afraid to wear the bright-colored midi’s so many of the celebs are wearing. You can tone down a bright-colored midi by pairing it with a neutral colored top-a white button blouse always works or a printed tee will give it a funky feel.
You can never go wrong with a pencil skirt, even one that falls below the knee-think Mad Men and how sexy all those women look.
Happy Shopping, Ladies!!

If you are as obsessed with fashion as I am-for that matter, even if your not but consider yourself of creative ilk-then you must run, not walk, to see Bill Cunningham New York. A documentary about Bill Cunningham, the photographer/journalist, who has been chronicling fashion trends and high society charity soirées for the New York Times Style section in his columns On the Street and Evening Hours for decades.
Bill Cunningham New York is a delicate, funny and often poignant portrait of a dedicated artist whose only wealth is his own humanity, passion and unassuming grace. Delightful from beginning to end-when the ending credits started to roll, I found myself wanting to jump on the red-eye to New York to comb the streets for him. Upon finding him, I would plant a big kiss on his cheek and thank him for reminding me that when you imbue your sense of style with passion, you will rarely go wrong.
“The New York fashion world gets dressed for Bill,” says Vogue editor Anna Wintour; I may live 3000 miles away but I too, shall be getting dressed for Bill.

The White Button Down
Another closet staple, whether it’s cotton or silk, is the white button down shirt. A piece that can take you from boardroom to movie to dining room depending upon the accessories or style-classic to edgy-that you pair it with.
If you are buying your first white button down, I recommend a more classic style that is fitted-preferably with stretch. A classic style doesn’t have to come across as such, it just needs to be worn with edgy accessories- a spiked cuff, leather leggings and platform ankle boots is a perfect example.

The Pencil Skirt
A staple in every well curated closet, the pencil skirt can be worn anywhere from a top CEO’s business meeting to dancing at the Soho House or on a first date at Capo in Santa Monica.
Switching from a classic to an edgier look is easy-a change of shoes, jewelry, tops or jackets-making the pencil skirt a piece you’ll get many miles from. A true investment piece.
I found examples in two different price points but it’s easy to find in most designers collections or stores ranging from The Limited to Barneys New York. This is a piece worth having in more than one color-black and camel to start with-and after purchasing a classic style, it’s fun to add one with edgier details-fake zipper pockets, high-low hems or kick pleats in the back.

I have found the perfect flat for spring-Bloch Shoes. So simple, so cute and soooo comfortable. Bloch has made ballet slippers and dance shoes for esteemed ballerinas world-wide and have been doing so since 1932. Using only the softest leather and adding a padded cushion for the balls of your feet is what makes these flats feel like heaven. So, not only will you look great, your feet will thank you too.
They come in an array of color and styles but the basic Prima Ballerina style @ $138.00 is my favorite. To purchase visit http://www.polyvore.com or go to bloch.com and they will direct you to the closest store.

Stripe tees have been a classic since Bridgitte Bardot made them famous in the 50’s. Last year they saw a revival and it’s going strong in 2011.

I also found great navy/white and grey/white versions at forever 21 and H&M for $15.oo. At that price I grabbed a few from each store. What are you waiting for-run out and grab a few while they are still available!
