I know I’m not the only one that needs a touch of lightness in their life these days. It was a hard week for half of America, and I am just beginning to be able to wrap my head around it. Reading, talking to friends, and listening to a lot of music has helped. What also helped was perusing street style pics, and catching all the bright light that silver reflects.
Naomie Harris at the Hollywood Film Awards, where she took home the Hollywood Breakout Actress award, looked positively aglow in her Gucci silver lame pantsuit. What also caught my eye were all the silver skirts (both sequin and lame) worn during the day with a casual bent to them. Whether paired with Converse suede sneakers, oxfords, mid-sized heels or to the knee boots, all looked smashing! And, who doesn’t love a silver leather bomber jacket with red and black knit trim detailing. When paired with red it read like a breath of fresh air!

Donatella Versace’s 7 Most Valuable Life Lessons: “Family is Everything”
There are those for which “making a statement” in their lives comes easily, and then there are those who find it much more difficult. They may not have the time or desire to post their objections and likes, political and otherwise, on social media , or maybe, they’re simply too darn shy, and like to keep their thoughts to themselves.
I suffer from none of the above, yet my preferred statement making method is via fashion. This season its all about the “statement sweater”. Sequins, ruffles, fringe and embellished sleeves have taken the sweater from its classic nature, and given it pizazz.
Pair any of the above sweaters with jeans and ankle boots and you’ve made your statement!! Voila. That was easy!

This fall be prepared to channel your inner Ziggy Stardust. Last Autumn it was all about the velvet boot. This season the trend has gone viral….. its velvet everything! Designers can’t seem to get enough of its rich, chic look this season, and I can’t blame them, nothing says luxury like velvet.
The trend is not simply for evening, velvet blazers with denim or slip dresses worn over a tee are smashing day looks — Zara’s velvet toggle jacket, to be worn with everything, is on my must have list. What is swanker than a pair of emerald green cropped velvet pants? Not much. Except, maybe this Frame black velvet suit with cropped pants!!

When I poured over the pages of Porter’s Winter 2016 issue (on news stands now) I fell hard for the glam-rock looks on Celine Bouly. Those Saint Laurent boots are divine!! Seeing Celine grace the streets of Naples – one of Italy’s oldest, most artistic and delicious cities made me wish I had spent more time there during my days living in Italy. The gritty elegance of Naples was the ideal backdrop for today’s urban makeover of floral prints.

As if we needed any more proof that it’s acceptable to wear white after Labor Day, the streets of London, New York and Milan were brimming with chic, head-to-toe white style statements at their perspective fashion weeks. So now that a major fashion barrier has been broken, let’s learn how to wear this bold new look by gathering inspiration from a range of stylish women who wore it to the shows.
Here’s a sampling of the assorted looks that caught my eye: sweet lace camisoles worn over trousers; romantic ruffled dresses paired with a menswear-inspired vest; minimal pant suits with trending cropped bottoms; lace-up detailed pleated outerwear, and cropped sweaters worn over eye lit ruffled skirts. And there’s one simple way to pull it all together: a pop of color via accessories!

Last night’s 68th annual Emmy awards officially marked the start of Hollywood’s red carpet season. (And, for me the true end of summer.) While officially the Emmy’s are known not to be as dazzling as say, its big sister, the Oscars, last night the stars lit up Hollywood with major glamor. From Claire Danes in a metallic Schiaparelli gown, to Priyanka Chopra in a flowing vibrant red Jason Wu dress, to Kerry Washington, the most beautiful pregnant woman I’ve seen on the red carpet, in a sexy cutout Brandon Maxwell gown. Well done ladies!
