I know, I know. I’ve been gone way too long. My other project’s got the best of me, but rest assured I have missed you. It’s hard to believe that Mother’s Day is this Sunday! My mom requested books this year, and since I believe in supporting my local book store off to Diesel at the Brentwood Country Mart it was. If you ever find your self on the west side of a LA, treat yourself, and stop in for a visit!

For those of you with non reader moms, I’ve curated a list of of other gifts she’ll be sure to love. I’m particularly found of Farmhouse Pottery’s glazed ceramic pitcher (in 3 sizes), and Three J NYC’s super soft and cozy cotton poplin PJ short set. For those moms with a sweet tooth there is nothing more satisfying than Freds, from BNY, white and dark chocolate swirl popcorn. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

The crazy cool gift Love (created by world-renowned product designer, Yves Behar) is on Indiegogo now and has already been 1720% funded. Love is the first high-end, smartphone controlled record player/stylist that you can use with or without its app. It’s worthy of a look see even if you’re not in the market!

Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms!

First off, I’d like to apologize for my long absence. I haven’t forgotten about you, and actually, you’ve been on my mind a lot. I’ve been fully engrossed in the KickStarter campaign for my small leather accessories line, and haven’t had a chance to come up for air. More details to come soon.

Boy, am I ready to slide right into spring and  stay there. No more wavering back and forth from warm to cold, or sunny days that transform back into cloudy ones in a blink of the eye. I want the smell of jasmine to linger for days, the sun to be a constant in my life, and the weather warm and balmy. Just the kind of days ideal for wearing this Spring’s “it” shoe – the slide!

I’ve curated a selection of the best ten slides available now. My personal favorites are Jenni Kayne’s buckle fringe mules. I plan on living in them this spring! I’ve also got my eye on x Revolve’s Sari slides in corn flower blue velvet, and Gucci’s neon pink suede mid-heel slides — both ideal for showing off the spring’s trendiest hues in nail polish!

Which are your favs? Share in the comment section.

Now That Is What I Call Unforgettable TV

Wowza! I, along with millions of others, could not believe how last night’s Oscar’s ended. Talk about awkward and embarrassing. At least it garnered some unforgettable television. It is astonishing the ripple effect one mistake (albeit a colossally huge one) has on an evening.

My heart went out to so many. Mostly, Moonlight producers, Barry Jenkins, Tarell Alvin McCraney and its cast for its moment of glory being tainted. Hopefully, it will be remembered more for the brave, powerful and artful masterpiece that it was, and not the unfolding of its journey to the stage to accept its Best Oscar award. Secondly, to La La Land; imagine believing you won the golden ticket, and having it be snatched from your hands. Producer Jordan Horowitz handled it like a true mensch.

I felt horrible for Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway. So many of last night’s and today’s head lines read as if it were their fault. Let’s remember they were given the wrong card to read. And, to Jimmy Kimmel, he did a fantastic job of hosting the show with his subtle humor, his quick wit and all around entertaining personality. I hope his almost flawless hosting gig will be remembered not only for the last 10 minutes.

Lastly, I do feel bad for whom ever at Pricewater Cooper mixed up those envelopes. I’m sure, not only do they feel dreadful, but that they received an earful last night! Do you think they still have a job today?

Amid all the excitement from last night, I almost forgot to mention my top ten dresses from the evening. There were quite a few gorgeous gowns (2 of my what I want to see selections were worn), but my favorites were worn by Brie Lawson and Kristen Dunst — BBEG (basic black evening gown).

Ladies That Deserve The Very Best

The talented ladies that have been honored with an Oscar nomination in leading and supporting roles this year have put a lot of hard work, time and dedication into their performances. Each and every one of these actresses is worthy of the accolades that are being bestowed upon them. And, when they walk down the red carpet they deserve to be wearing the best of the best, and that is Couture  —  gowns that are rich in embellishment, craftsmanship and heavenly fabrics. Gowns that are no stranger themselves to hard work —   on average, a couture dress consist of hundreds to thousands of hours of painstaking effort.

Most of this year’s Oscar nominees are quite experienced with more than a few noms under their belts (Meryl Streep, Viola Davis, Michelle Wiliams, Octavia Spencer and  Nicole Kidman). Yet, there are a few that are relative newbies having only been nominated once or twice (Natalie Portman, Isabelle Huppert and Emma Stone), and two actresses experiencing their very first nods (of many yet to come, I’m sure) – Naomie Harris and Ruth Negga. I’m rooting for Ruth Negga (can someone please explain how “Loving” was not nominated for Best Picture??), and the enviable Viola Davis. Both delivered awesome portrayals of woman with not a lot in common except for their courage, strength and resilience in difficult, trying times.

I’ve hand curated a selection of couture gowns that I’d like to see each of them grace as they glide down the red carpet. Let me know what you think of my picks!

Valentine’s Day Gifts For The Man In Your life

Neil Barrett Jay De Niro Jersey T-ShirtHealth, Wealth & Love Wishbone

Fleur Du Mal Silk BlindfoldAha Ted Weekender

I’m a romantic at heart, and even though I’ll be single this Valentine’s Day, I still find the day worthy of celebrating. I realize it has become a “corporate” holiday over the many years, and, truth be told, we should honor those we love every day not solely on the 14th. But, sometimes life has a way of getting in the way of our best intentions, so a day to celebrate your love and commitment towards a significant other, or simply expressing the love you have for family and friends is a grand idea. Tokens of love are appreciated. Especially when there is plenty of thought behind the gesture.

A few of my favorite ideas:

Breakfast in bed. This West Elm handsome looking tray is just what you need to serve up all the goodies you present him while he relaxes in bed.

Take a weekend away, just the two of you. Gift him this Aha Ted weekender, and no matter where your journey takes you he will arrive packed in style.

Opt for a simple gift that could yield some not so simple results. Fleur Du Mal’s silk blindfold could play the part. And, while you’re there make sure to get something delectable for you to slip into.

Or, you could go the “home made” route. My girlfriend turns her fiance’s instagram account into a book every year. They’re both super creative people, and she loves to show her support and appreciation of his talent with this simple gesture.

This Week’s Wish List

Wish list

Wish List

Wishing doesn’t always make it so, but it’s a start. To focus my desirous energy I decided to whittle down my list to my top 3 choices. Not easy, but here goes.

Saint Laurent Opium Logo-Heel Pumps: I love the use of the logo as the design of the heel, and my curiosity is piqued. Are these shoes made for walking?

Tata Harper’s Rejuvenating Serum: Since the winter weather has taken a toll on my skin, and my best friend (as well as Gwyneth) swears by its benefits. And, because it is non-toxic and organic.

Spinelli Kilcollin Women’s Vega SG Pavé Ring: I literally can not stop thinking about these rings since I discovered them a year ago. This one makes my heart sing!

I love everything on this list, so I wouldn’t balk if any of the above lovelies made its way into my home, but it’s always nice to have a jumping off point.

My other, intangible wish is for refugees to be welcome the world over. Help refugees, forced to flee their home, and give them a chance to rebuild their lives. Donate here or here. Get involved here.

Time Management On The Red Carpet

With the rise of the “Ask Her More” initiative, celebrities are demanding to talk about topics other than the clothes on their back while on the red carpet, especially when their time is so limited. With all the talented women that were housed under one roof at last night’s Golden Globes, surely there was more to discuss. After all, these women are actresses, writers, producers, activists, mothers and human beings that have not only created and participated in award-winning projects, but have lived full lives outside of the entertainment industry. It’s time to let the world know that too!

Yet, when you are loaned a dress worth thousands, and the jewels come with their own personal body-guard for the evening, those designers deserve to get acknowledged. Last nights pre-award’s host/hostess did a good job of keeping that portion brief, and delved into as many more substantial matters as the time allotted permitted.

After last night’s speech I’m sure no one will be making the mistake of asking Meryl Streep, “Who she is wearing?” Way to go, Meryl! You rock. (see below for speech)

Teresa Palmer in Armani Prive // Jessica Chastain in Prada // Mandy Moore in Naeem Khan // Louise Roe in Monique Lhuillier // Amy Adams in Tom Ford //Anna Kendrick in Vionnet // Caitriona Balfe in Delpozzo // Natalie Portman in Prada // Blake Lively in Atelier Versace // Thandie Newton in Monse
