One of the things that gets me through summer coming to a close is the September Vogue issue along with Bazaar and Elle. Not only are the editorials stunning, but you have some of the most brilliant and creative photographers, stylists and models coming together for major designer campaigns.
Two of my favorite models, Lara Stone and Kate Moss, are featured in Balenciaga’s Fall campaign lensed by Steven Klein (above). Alexander Wang, creative director of Balenciaga, told Style.com what inspired the ads. “I thought Kate and Lara together could be provocative, sensual, unpredictable.” And they are. The end result with the added glamour quotient of the clothing, is stunning.
What drew me to Prada’s Fall campaign was the quirky youthfulness and modern feeling of the Steven Meisel shots. Up and coming models, Avery Blanchard, Estella Boersma, Inga Dezhina, Lineisy Montero, Ine Neefs, Greta Varlese and Maartje Verhoef, who walked in the Prada and Miu Miu collections for fall lend a newness to the brand’s retro suiting and cropped pants in looks styled brilliantly by Olivier Rizzo.
Mr. Meisel went a different route when photographing Miu Miu’s AW15 campaign for Muccia Prada. The results were spectacular and get my vote for the best campaign of the season.
Shot on the sidewalks of New York, the campaign aptly titled “Subjective Reality” stars four fast-rising actresses – Mia Goth, Maddison Brown, Hailey Gates and Stacy Martin. The oft-handed composition in the vintage looking shots are inhabited by passersby along with models glaring, somewhat defiant, at the photographer. Each of these true art shots tells a unique story, and would be welcomed on the walls of my home.
The fall-winter 2015 campaign from Chloe utilizes familiar faces with models Anja Rubik and Julia Stegner. The romantic and free-spirited photographs, taken by in demand team Inez & Vinoodh, have the pair strolling through the Luxembourg Gardens in Paris while wearing contrasting bohemian, billowing maxi dresses, vests and boxy coats. They seem to be sharing a deep, poignant secrets. I wonder what they could be?
