Wednesday night my friends making the documentary, Cuba in Transition, surprised a few of us (we literally found out as they picked us up) with tickets to see, Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club and Diego El Cigala at the Hollywood Bowl.
It turns out the original stars of Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club (legends of Cuban music), were playing the bowl one last time. I feel so fortunate and grateful to have been there. The night was full of traditional Cuban music — son montuno, danzón, cha-cha, boleros, and more, plus material from Lost & Found, a new collection of unreleased recordings from the original Buena Vista Social Club sessions. It was amazing!!
It was a Hollywood bowl debut for captivating flamenco singer Diego El Cigala. His fusion of salsa and charanga rhythms with the drama of Argentine tango had to be the best opening act I have seen. I’ll certainly be listening to a lot more of his music.
The night of latin music brought out a desire for some fiery passion in my life. I figured the best place to start was with flaming red nails. I choice OPI Venice Collection Amore at the Grand Canal for my color of choice. (see above). Red nails are something that will never go out of style (thank God) and make a perfect segue into fall.
Below are a few of my favorite red shades and a curated ensemble which perfectly compliments fiery red nails as well being ideal transitional pieces.
