The red carpet of red carpets is, for me, the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute exhibition, otherwise known as the Met Gala. This year’s theme – China: Through the Looking Glass hosts the largest exhibition so far with a 140-plus-piece show which extends beyond the Anna Wintour Costume Center into the museum’s Chinese Wing.
To Style.com, Thomas Campbell, the director and CEO of the Met, “emphasised that the exhibition was meant to be a “cinematic journey”. That is clear from the trippy, multi-story, maze-like design which is meant to bring to mind Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland – hence the “looking glass” element of the exhibition title.” The fashion, compromised the China portion, inside the gala, and on the red carpet.
My favorite gowns were the ones which were influenced by the Asian theme and took it to heart. Well done ladies!!
