Every girl deserves a husband like my girlfriend Jill’s. You may be wondering what phenomenal deed could he have done to deserve such kudos — on Jill’s last birthday he bought her the Rubin & Chapelle ‘Charlotte’ bag. It’s one of those bags you have to see to appreciate fully, the brilliance is in the details. Specifically, the handmade lambskin satchel, and suede interior; handcrafted Norwegian bridle leather straps; interior clip closure and antique brass hardware.

An amazing bag takes talented designers. The duo behind Rubin & Chapelle, Sonja Rubin and Kip Chapelle, began designing clothing together in Italy and Austria in 1997. Their structural, sleek silhouettes, popular among celebrities such as Sharon Stone, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Gwyneth Paltrow, have brought them much success. And, led to their first boutique opening in New York’s meatpacking district five short years later. Jump ahead to 2011 where their growing demand led them to open their second store in Malibu’s Country Mart.

Check out Kip and Sonja’s denim line, 192 doves, which draws its name from the number of countries in the world (as of 2006,) and the global symbol for peace, the dove. Handmade in California with organic denim, and an emphasis on details — hand-stitching, and curved waistbands on the women’s styles, and for the men, pull-up loops at each hip, hidden coin pockets, and flattering off pocket seams. No wonder they’ve been seen on the likes of Jude Law, Keira Knightley, and Sienna Miller.  This premium denim line is meant to take denim back to its roots.
