Couture collections are the fantasy land of high fashion. The designer’s creations are constructed by hand from start to finish using the highest quality fabrics, beading, sequins etc. They are sewn with the upmost attention to detail, and finished by the most experienced and capable seamstresses, often using time-consuming, hand-executed techniques. It is not unheard of for dresses to take upward of hundreds of hours of labor. They are custom fit to the purchaser and can cost in the six figures — if you have to ask the price you can’t afford it!!
Spring 2015 couture dresses have just made their debut on fashion’s red carpet – the runway. If the nominees, presenters and other celebrity’s stylists are skillful and savvy enough to snatch up any of these exquisite, elaborately crafted dresses for their clients, these are the ones I would like to see grace Oscar night’s red carpet. A handful of them are, shall we say, not the normal dresses we see on the red carpet, but what is style if it doesn’t embody taking risks .
