I tagged along with my dear friend Cynthia Desser (ultra fab accessories designer) on an exploring journey of downtown Los Angeles, and discovered the crazy cool ‘Arts District‘ in downtown LA. First stop was the Cerre store (801 Mateo St. LA, CA 90021), in the more unknown part of the Arts District (but not for long). I love discovering new designers, and theses Frenchmen, Flavie and Clayton Webster, combine French elegance and tradition with effortless Californian style to create a timeless collection that is as sophisticated as it is wearable.
The Cerre Woman
Checking out Acne Studios downtown location was next which of course did not disappoint — love the perforated metal detailing in the warehouse style decor. And, of course ALL the clothes!
Within minutes of exploring the district’s streets my creative juices began rippling through me. Color spills onto the enormous canvases of the building’s walls creating numerous vivid murals. Rare architecture not usually seen on the streets of Los Angeles, unique shops like Apolis and Alchemy Works (owned by the husband and wife team — Lindsay and Raan Parton) Poketo, wellness center The Springs, and coffee shops and restaurants full of hipsters young and old emanate vibes of my favorite New York City haunts – SOHO and Tribeca.
And just like Manhatten, The Arts District, the Southeast section of Downtown, encased within the walls of Second to Seventh Street and Alameda Street and the LA River, is totally walkable from end to end.
Suffice it to say I have fallen in love!!
