I’ve been listening to Courtney Barnett for months now, non-stop. Can’t get enough of her. Love the honest emotive ramblings of her hit single Avant Gardner, a song depicting a journey which starts with an enterprising gardening venture eventually ending in a panic attack. Her American debut double EP “A Sea of Split Peas” (a compilation of two previously self-released EP’s) has garnered rave reviews for her witty and evocative lyrics poured over lo-fi, psych-influenced washes of guitar.
It took a little longer for the U.S. to catch onto how freaking utterly awesome she is (a year to be exact), but when we did it was with a fervor. Her American tour stops are sold out, and I can not wait to catch her at the El Rey Theater on November 4th.
Below is my dream look for her concert at the El Rey. But, alas, these awesome high waisted, side zipped Rag & Bone pants are only available through pre-ordering, and won’t be available till the end of November. Not to worry, Top Shop’s Moto skinny jeans are a fantastic substitution. A simple white tee under the plaid Smythe blazer is an easy way to finish up your look, or you could opt for my choice of Zara’s quaint cream embroidered blouse.
For those not living in Los Angeles check out her tour schedule here.
