I like to think of the change of seasons not only as a time to realign your wardrobe, but as a mini transition in the journey of life. A time to take stock of your life, your values, your goals, and to assess all that you are grateful for.
Here in Southern California we are still having warm, make that hot, weather, but soon the temps will drop as we move into fall. To ease the way when the cooler weather comes (it’s October, it has to be here soon. Right?) I’ve curated an uber chic transitional look.
I began at Barney’s wherehouse where I found a great deal (75% off) on the companies own label — an awesome brown plaid jacket with black leather sleeves. Great to pair with dark skinny jeans and leather leggings, but since we are in a changeover period, I opted for the lighter, stylish cream cropped trouser from Top Shop.
The philosophy of A Detacher, a store that offers a limited range of housewares, books, and what they call fetish items, reconciles nicely with our transitional theme — they present a selection of desirable objects and looks to their consumer and encourage them to give their clothing their own spiritual posture, to incorporate them in their own unique fashion. I fell in love with the Eleanor pump with its block heel, partially squared off toe, and simple silhouette.
Rebecca Minkoff’s Jules satchel bag (reminds me of a poor person’s Birken bag) completes the look, and a little jazz is added with Saint Laurent’s chandelier earrings (an alternative reality here).
While all these pieces are ideal for transitioning into fall, I guarantee you will procure use from them all season long. And, for us Californians into winter as well. Lucky us!!
