Seeing Leandra Medine (Man Repeller) at NYFW in her cutoff shorts paired with what was definitely not your ordinary white poplin blouse (see yesterday’s post, she looked amazing!!) inspired me to rethink the classic combo of denim and the white button down.
This season the white poplin button down is a strong trend, and appeared in most designers fall repertoire. (But really when has this classic not been in style?) The only difference is now you’ll be seeing a lot of what I like to call statement white shirts. Still made from the classic poplin cotton, the silhouette has been given a makeover — tweaked, embellished and designed with an edge. These are not your mother’s white shirts!
Start with your favorite pair of cutoffs or jeans, add Burberry’s polished leather lace-ups (heels for a dressier version with jeans), and simple accessories as not to take attention anyway from your statement piece. Marly Moretti‘s open crescent ring and Becksondergarrd‘s Carmen metal clutch are the ideal accoutrements!
