Temperatures soared well into the 80’s in Santa Monica yesterday, and along with it the harsh realization that it is officially swimsuit season. My dilemmas aren’t figure related (thanks to my Sattva Yoga classes), but more along the lines of uber white skin. I’m not talking about the to-die-for milky white porcelain skin of the Nicole Kidman’s and Cate Blanchett’s of the world. I’m talking every-little-bump-turns-into-bruise’s skin, not to mention my five-minutes-to-long-in-the sun burn (thank God for La Roche Posay and 3 Lab Perfect sunscreens).
All that aside, bikinis this spring are following this season RTW trends, and they are amazing! I’m especially excited about getting a floral high-waisted bikini this season – a la Top Shop’s hot pink floral one, and Salinas’ black and blue stripe/floral combo bikini. Lisa Marie Fernandez’s Arden ruffled bonded bikini may not be your trend of choice when it comes to swimsuits, yet the ruffled top half does make for an excellent crop top — pair it with a slender black midi, a myriad of bangles, and a pair of killer heels for awe-inspiring evening attire!
Another good investment for us sensitive skin types: J Crew’s rash guard long sleeve tops. My favorite is the chic navy stripe and floral bikini bottom combo.
