My New Style Icon

I love all things French: champagne, croissants, the Louvre and Caroline De Maigret. My new fashion icon. Caroline (the granddaughter of Prince Michel Poniatowski and the daughter of Count Bertrand de Maigret) — model, music producer, mom, Chanel muse  — has so many talents (not to mention intelligent) it’s almost not fair that she is beautiful and one hell of a stylish woman to boot.

She began her modeling career in 1994, working with photographers Mario Testino, Peter Lindbergh and Terry Richardson. The catwalks soon followed, walking for Chanel, Balenciaga and Marc Jacobs to name a few. Yet, her love for music was what motivated her in life, and that was where she desired to make her mark in life.

Upon returning to Paris to further her career as a music producer she met Yarol Poupaud (musician and actor), and together they created the rock music label —Bonus Track Records. It wasn’t until later that they fell in love (they have a 7-year-old son). They have since started a publishing company, Yarock Editions, where they produce soundtracks and music for various projects. In 2011 the pair (Caroline and Yarol) were nominated by the Cesar Academy (the French Oscars) for “Best Soundtrack of the Year” for their work on Bus Palladium.

The duo sold Bonus Track Records last year, but there is no slowing down in Caroline’s world. They still produce independent rock bands they feel strongly about, and she has been in high demand modeling again. From the beginning of last year, she’s appeared in Italian Vogue, Vogue US, Vogue UK and i-D and has shot with Steven Meisel, Inez & Vinoodh, and of course, everyone’s favorite uncle – Karl Lagerfeld.

Caroline’s style motto is of particular interest to me at this moment in life — Always dress to meet the love of your life. This gorgeous creature is my style icon for more than her unique style, it’s just as much her brains, her talent and her zest for life that make her so badass!

I know my status. Do you know yours?
