Made To Measure – Your Perfect Dress

I assure you that even the most beautiful
women are not pretty all over. They have merely
learned to use clothes deftly enough to give
others the impression that they are.
Why shouldn’t you?*

—Edith Head—

PIOL lets the inner designer within in us all flourish, allowing you to create your very own uniquely designed dress from scratch. Based on a platform, which Edith Head developed and used to dress some of the most famous women in the world — Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor and Sophia Loren.

The platform embraces a three-fold approach to fashion – color, style and fit. Everyone is born with their very own combination of hair, skin and eye color. PIOl believes your unique features should inspire the color of the clothes you wear, bringing out the best in your look (they also use some of the finest Japanese and Italian fabrics). Next, style should be used to play up your assets and hide your flaws, guiding you to choose a cut of dress that most flatters your figure. Lastly, they emphasize fit, PIOL acknowledges that most women aren’t born perfectly proportional. Using your body measurements, they custom make a dress that is guaranteed to fit you better than anything you can find off the rack.

The platform teaches us there is a lot more involved in designing the perfect dress than you think. It emphasizes knowledge along with encouragement to follow our own intuition and basic instincts when it comes to getting dressed and designing.

Let Edith Head’s expertise in costume design –  over 35 Oscar nominations and eight academy awards (more than any other woman) – give you a leg up in designing “your” dress. As Edith Head liked to say, “It’s all about learning how to accentuate the positive and camouflage the negative”.

Here is the dress I designed. I love it!!
