To be frank, I’m not a big fan of the Grammy Awards. They almost always get it wrong. Let’s journey back to 1985, when Lionel Ritchie’s Can’t Slow Down won over Prince’s Purple Rain and Springsteen’s Born in the U.S.A. — actually caused the Grammys to seek out younger voting members (like people in their 40s). Remember Christopher Cross’ win in 1981 (nope?, don’t worry, neither does 3/4 of America anymore), and Taylor Swift in 2010????
Bob Dylan didn’t get a golden statue until the late ’70s and Van Morrison, Pink Floyd, and the Rolling Stones all waited until the ’90s. In the recent past the voters have had their moments of sanity: Bob Dylan – Time Out of Mind (1998), Arcade Fire — The Suburbs (2011), Robert Plant and Alison Krauss – Raising Sand (2009), to name a few. I’ll be curious to see who wins tonight. I’m rooting for Lorde to take home a trophy.
But, I digress. The red carpet is what I’ll be tuned into (it can be entertaining, there are usually some wild and crazy dresses, not to mention a few misses). Here are some dresses I’d like to see donned tonight. I wonder what the odds are that we’ll see one??
Stay tuned, I’ll be bringing you the fashion winners of the night!!
