Clean, simple, well tailored and just enough inventive detailing makes Narcisco Rodriguez’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection simply amazing. Oh, and let’s not forget sexy. His self dubbed “half-skirt” – the mini’s front panel wraps only partway around to reveal short shorts underneath.
The whole collection wears so easy, and if you’re not the mini type there were plenty of to-the-knee wrap skirts whose drape, if not sexy, was surely sensual. The black-and-white wool jackets and coats that opened the show, and the black suiting with leather and brocade insets were Rodriguez tailoring at it’s best. Other standouts were jacquard shifts in light coral and blush florals, and one of my favs, a dusty rose sleeveless and asymmetrical silk top with a shiny short wrap skirt.
Come next spring you’ll be wanting a slipdress (a strong trend throughout the shows) and Narcisco’s would be one to choose from. His last 3 exits were divine slipdresses that at first read like a print, but upon closer inspection you could see the designs were actually bonded to the silk. Rodriguez called it “a new kind of lace,” and it is gorgeous!!
This collection is perfect from top to bottom, and even the shoes are a must have – ultra chic pointy toe flats and heels with ankle straps!
