Eco- Conscious is becoming more and more of a reality in the way companies handle their business practices, and that’s a good thing. This month, fast fashion chain H&M – the world’s second largest apparel company – debuted their second “Conscious Collection”.
The collection of out-on-the-town clothing, party dresses and evening wear – Helen Hunt even wore one to the Oscars – is made from recycled polyester chiffon and organic cotton. It’s not only sustainable clothing, it’s beautiful and chic! Not to mention extremely affordable!!
Reaching even further into goodwill acts, H&M recently started the Don’t Let Fashion Go to Waste campaign which invites customers to bring in bags of apparel –from any store– to be recycled. They get vouchers in exchange for the used goods (a coupon for 15 percent off a new item). So far the company’s donated more than 3.2 million garments to charitable causes. Also this year, H&M hopes to have 95 percent of the waste handled in their warehouses be recycled. It’s fabulous to see fashion companies realize that material production is a big part of the environmental impact of a garment.
If you want to check out the collection first hand you better hurry on over to H&M, because it is flying out the door!!
