Victoria Beckham Launches Eyeglass Line Early Next Year

Victoria Beckham is no stranger to fashion success. In 2004 she designed a limited-edition fashion line for Rock & Republic called VB Rocks consisting of high-end jeans that retailed for approximately $300 in the US. In 2006 her personal love of sunglasses resulted in a line called dvb Eyewear. She has been quoted saying, ” I’m quite obsessed with sunglasses. I collect vintage Guccis and Carreras — they can make virtually any outfit look cool”.
Her own fashion collection debuted in 2008 at New York Fashion week, featuring dresses made from silk, wool and organza, which retailed from $800 to $2000. The collection received great critical acclaim with critics loving her attention to detail and calling the dresses “beautiful”, “desirable” and “classy”.
Beckham, who is near-sighted herself, is now turning her attention to eyeglasses after not being able to find ones that suited her tastes. In October she releases her line of prescription glasses, consisting of six pairs of frames available in a variety of different colors – black, tortoise, topaz, yellow and forest green. All frames are branded with a simple “V” and made in Italy with manufacturing partner Cutler & Cross. Each pair goes through four weeks of production and 37 assembly processes. This means frames are “tumbled” for nearly a week with resin chips and undergo two stages of hand polishing. Many of the frames are unsex with Victoria and her hunky  husband, David Beckham, both favoring the Heavy Square tortoise shell frames (pictured below).
“I will be wearing my glasses now, and it will be nice to see where I’m going for once” Beckham told WWD. Look for the glasses, which range in price but on average cost around $400, to hit stores in January or February.
