Recently, I talked about the inspiration viewing the designer collections can provide you. While most of us wouldn’t turn down owning the real pieces unless you belong to the top 1% this can prove difficult. I picked out 2 of my favorite looks (from my recent 21 Resort 2012 favorites post) and found the affordable clothes to take us from the runway to reality.
With a few minor alterations the following can become near replicas of their runway counterparts. To get the Alexander McQueen look (top left), hem the Religion tux pants to 3″ – 4″ above the ankle and switch the buttons on the stretch cotton button down to black. Adding the black belt from the McQ line by Alexander McQueen and some t-strap heels and you got your runway look.
I love this mini shift dress from Valentino (top left) and by hemming the Paul and Joe dress below you can make a cap sleeve version. With the material left over after hemming the dress make a shoestring width belt and remove belt hoops to make the dress a copy cat version.
Let me know if there is a particular designer look, and the collection it comes from, you would like to see replicated.
