It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…..
We just finished doing the holiday window in Chelsea’s store and finally it feels like the holiday season. If you find yourself near Brentwood stop by her store and check it out – 11704 Barrington Court Los Angeles, CA 90049 310 471 4770.
The Christmas tree came from the Germanic regions and was originally part of a Pagan festival called the “12 Rauhnachte,” which means 12 harsh nights. During the winter, the Germanic people observed that everything seemingly died, and turned brown, with the exception of only a few evergreens. They superstitiously blamed evil spirits for causing all the plants to die, but the evergreens that stayed alive became a symbol of life and immortality to them. They included the tree into the festival, bringing the tree indoors on Dec 24 and removing it on Jan 6. Somewhere around the 1300’s or maybe 1400’s they began decorating the tree with fruits and other colorful items.A tradition was born.
We can’t think of a better way than decorating a hand picked and newly cut Christmas tree to get in the Holiday groove. Go grab a tree, fill your home with friends and family, and breath in the smell of pine while decorating.
You’ll be in the Holiday spirit in no time!
