Vince was founded in 2002 by Christopher La Police and Rea Laccone, on the principles of iconic design and superior quality. The duo conceived of the brand as a line of versatile tees and knits-urbane enough to wear with edgier pants and easy enough to toss in a weekend bag for a quick getaway. The perfect marriage of fashion and comfort.
In 2007 they added a men’s line to their growing women’s collection of luxury basics and denim. In 2008, when the economy started on its downfall, they pushed the line upward to include luxury lightweight jackets, tailored leather outerwear, and expanded the selection of “basics”to include fashionable ready-to-wear. The counterintuitive move paid off with the company’s profits doubling in the last 2 years.
Some might consider the working arrangement of La Police and Laccone to be unconventional-the 2 live on opposite sides of the country. La Police resides in New York-where his office over looks Bryant Park-and Laccone, along with her design team, calls Los Angeles home. It’s Laccone’s blend of SoCal laid back cool and New York sophistication(she lived in Manhattan for 5 years)that are infused in Vince’s spirit.
