Prabal Gurung For Target Debuts February 10th

Get ready, Prabal Gurung for Target will be here soon! The collection debuts in stores February 10 and this week the look book was revealed, showing a spring-ready mix of bright colors and feminine prints that is Gurung.

The Singapore-born Gurung has had love on his mind, and as fabsugar reported, Prabal described his inspiration as thus, “The collection is inspired by a girl’s journey through the different stages of love and the clothes she wears during each milestone — from the first date to meeting the parents to the engagement.”

The vibrant collection, which consists of 41 dynamite looks, covers everything you’ll need for an on trend fashionable look – shorts, skirts, dresses, jackets in to die for prints, 7 styles of shoes in various hues, a tote and a clutch (one with a long strap) and a wide variety of  jewelry!

And as these designer collaborations have been previously snapped up in a nanosecond, I would arrive at your Target before the doors open!!

Target Meet Neiman Marcus, Neiman Marcus Meet Target

They may make an odd couple, but discounter Target and luxury merchant Neiman Marcus are teaming up on a limited collection spanning from fashion to sporting goods for the upcoming holiday season.

More than 50 products from 24 CFDA finalists, including  Carolina Herrera, Derek Lam, Diane von Furstenberg, Jason Wu, Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta and Tory Burch will be available at both stores and on their websites starting Dec. 1 and runs until they sell out. Prices span from $7.99 to $499.99, but the majority of items will sell for less than $60.

The 2 companies are obviously aware of their differences, with Kathee Tesija, Target’s executive vice president of merchandising saying, “They’re high-end, and we’re mass appeal”. Target sells $25 dresses and generates almost half its revenue from staples like food and detergent, while Neiman Marcus has cultivated a reputation for expensive fashion, selling $1,000 shoes and $3,000 handbags. But, they have chosen to celebrate their commonality – they both love design!!

With the limited partnership both companies hope to grab a new segment of customers who are increasingly shopping around, checking out both higher and lower-price stores. Target, whose sales growth has been uneven since the recession, is seeking new ways to boost its fashion image. And Neiman Marcus, whose affluent customers are back to splurging, needs to step outside its comfort zone to stay competitive. By giving customers a reason to come visit their store for a first time, Neiman Marcus hopes they will discover it also sells more affordable items for under $100.

This time around in order to avoid more disappointed customers, like the ones they had when Missoni for Target sold out in ” the blink of an eye”, shoppers will be allowed to buy only a limited number of each item, though Target spokesman Joshua Thomas said the number hasn’t been set. Spread the wealth, sounds like a good idea!

Get The Look For Less – Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, an English model and actress, best known for her work for Victoria’s Secret and her role as Carly Spencer in the 2011 film Transformers: Dark of the Moon. The latter is quite appropiate, one look at her transforms any man into a blubbering, gushing fool. Growing up in Devon, she was bullied and teased at school for having a double-barrelled name, small breasts, and for her full lips (now one of her most famous assets). The model, who just turned 24, is sure to be at the begining of a long, lucrative career in front of the camera.

Caught leaving Heathrow airport she rocks leather pants, a Burberry Prorsum fur sweater jacket – she has long been a model for the designer and often wears their coats -  tan suede ankle boots and a Valentino handbag. We love her choice of neutral colors – the combo of black, tan and beige is ultra chic – which softens her rock ‘n roll ensemble, and the cable knit in her sweater that lends a classic air to her look.

To rock Rosie’s look check out our picks to get her look for less!

Missoni For Target Has Arrived!

The exclusive Missoni for Target collection is officially flying off shelves today and hopefully there will be something left if you didn’t rush out for the opening ceremony . On Target’s online store, items have begun to sell out already and it’s only 8:00 a.m.!

Last week, during Fashion’s Night Out in NYC, Target showcased the new Missoni for Target collection at their pop-up store in Bryant Park. The pop-up store was scheduled to open at 6 p.m. that evening, but had a line of more than 250 people by 4 p.m, according to an article on racked.com. Ladies, you might need to bring boxing gloves and running shoes!

We all know that Target is offering a wide variety of the Fashion House’s iconic prints in the form of ready-to-wear garments. However, the really great pieces (insider info) are actually some of the house-wares and accessory collections.

Frames and bar sets make incredible gifts for the Holidays for those shoppers who are able to plan that far ahead. Wine gift boxes are worth stocking up on for hostess gifts, and although Target isn’t offering a full men’s ready-to-wear collection, they didn’t leave the guys out completely by offering a few items like fun ties in the eclectic zig-zag print.

There has not been one Target collaboration as highly anticipated as this one so thank goodness all items in the collection are available online and in all Target stores. However, select pieces like the patterned maxi skirt, knit shorts and string bikini are only available online.

Happy Shopping!

Missoni for Target

Good news ladies…Target has just announced a new partnership with Italian design house Missoni! The pattern-happy Italianos, famous for their fabulous multi-hued knits, will turn out a collection of housewares and clothing to kick off the Fall 2011 season.

According to a Target press release, prices are set to range from $2.99 to $599, with most items under $40 including apparel and accessories for women, children and men, plus home decor goodies like bed sheets and dinner plates. Everything will undoubtedly be adorned with Missoni’s signature stripes, swirls, zigzags and kaleidoscopic florals.

This is great news if you’re like us and care almost as much about fashion decor for the home as we do for ourselves! Rumors have also been swirling that the more expensive items are Missoni designed furniture–such as outdoor patio sets and even a set of wheels! A Missoni bike of course!

The collection will be available this fall—from September 13 to October 22—at all Target retailers and online at Target.com. Save your pennies…this is one shopping spree to mark on your calendar!

Get The Look For Less: Elle Macpherson

Imagine if this was your mother picking you up from school. Talk about becoming a teacher’s pet – at least with the teachers of the male gender.

The 48-year-old Australian super model was caught by paparazzi picking her little one up from school in London’s Notting Hill District. Elle, best known for her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit layouts, rocked her 70′s inspired look.

The high-waisted jeans made her already sky-high long legs look even longer – a great fashion tip to remember. The slim silhouette button-down blouse tucked in with a gold buckled belt looks ultra hip and reminiscent of Studio 54. Elle pulled the look together with era-appropriate curls (a la sponge-rollers perhaps?) and a pair of vintage inspired retro sunglasses.

Had it not been for the people in the background we might actually have mistaken this photo for a real 70′s archive!

Here’s our picks for getting Elle’s look for your own. For those of you not familiar with Etsy, please check it out – you’ll find some fantastic vintage pieces on there.

Designer Profile: Calypso St. Barth for Target

May 1st is going to be a very exciting day for Calypso St. Barth lovers on a designer budget. Calypso is the latest designer to collaborate with Target and by the look of things, we like what we see!  The collection includes clothing and accessories for ladies and kids along with home décor items including candles, pillows, and glasses. The new collection hits stores the first day of May, “timed perfectly for summer,” and ranges from $1.99 to $79.99. Targets past diffusion lines have included Alexander McQueen, Anna Sui, Rodarte and Proenza Schouler.

Calypso is well-known for it’s beachy, bohemian style and from the lookbook that can be found on Target’s official website, it looks like their collaboration will live up to its name. The only difference in the garments found in Target and actual Calypso boutiques is detailed embroidery and beadwork and perhaps a downgrade in fabric quality; however worth it because the items are a fraction of what they would be.

Over the past 16 years, Calypso has grown from a small resort-wear line to a global luxury lifestyle brand with a passionate following. The beaded kaftans, vibrant tunics & colorful silk dresses have become wardrobe staples for women of all ages who travel the world.

Figure-flattering silhouettes, versatile tailoring & rich color palettes have made the exceptional assemblage of diversely inspired pieces consistent favorites throughout the past 16 years. Inspired by world-wide adventure & exotic escape the designs easily translate all over the globe.
