Dressed Down Sequins

Just because the Holidays are over doesn’t mean your coveted sequined fashion pieces need to be stored away. In fact, now is the best time to invest in sequined tops and dresses as they are most likely on sale.

For a chic way to wear sequins everyday, try pairing a sequined blouse with cuffed denim pants, like Level 99, and casual leather loafers – perfect for work or a lunch date. In general, dressing down “dressier” items is actually much easier than trying to dress-up casual pieces-which often requires lots of accessorizing. Clothing with lots of bling factor often times looks best plain and simple.

Another great outfit is cleverly achieved by layering a sequined dress with a soft cotton or cashmere sweater, like Minnie Rose’s V- Neck Sweater. Summer Shorts

For Spring/Summer 2011 the styles on trend for shorts are nautical, linen, cotton poplin and your oh so familiar boyfriend fit that we continue to see season after season (don’t let these slip into the Goodwill pile!)

We love the versatility of the silk and linen fabrics-they can easily be dressed up by pairing with a silk top and heels. Shorts that are made from lightweight linen or silk are great for evening because they tend to have more fabric and body and often times look similar to a skirt.

Nautical inspired shorts will be a fun trend this summer. Look for shorts with cute navy or gold buttons–or transform an old pair by replacing the old buttons with new ones. Wear any pair of plain shorts with a fun rope or navy/white striped belt to achieve the sailor-inspired look.

The New Kid On The Block-Spring’s Wide Leg Trend

On first glance, the wide-leg pants may seem too exaggerated; after all, we had just become attached to our skinny pants. Now this!

But  if you stop and take a moment, we think you’ll see how refreshing they are.  A shot out to the 70′s, mixed with either a crispness, for a more classic look, or a flowing palazzo or relaxed linen for a more casual look.
