I’ve been obsessed with my Paper Crown – Lauren Conrad’s new line – bright navy blazer ever since my closet became it’s new home a few weeks ago. I’ve been wearing it with my boyfriend jeans and simple tee’s or with casual tee shirt dresses and am just loving it.
Besides the pop of color it adds to my basic jeans/tee outfits, I love that it contains 4% spandex for a snug fit that’s extremely comfortable. For my birthday dinner at Hal’s in Venice, I decided to dress it up. As my present to myself (have to wear something new on the bday), I got the new Haute Hippie Lace Shorts ($225.00) and paired it with a Hanes wife beater (they also look fantastic when paired with a black silk blouse), opaque tights and my Zigi Soho Alison platform ankle booties (marked down to $39.90). The cherry on top was my Cynthia Desser druzy necklace - my bday present from the designer herself - which has ownly left my neck when I sleep.
To score the best deal on Hane’s wife beaters (can’t they come up with another name for that) buy them at Target for $9.99 for a package of 5 ( in store only) or at target.com for the premium cotton – package of 6 for $22.99. Such the deal!! I buy them in mens x-small and shrink them down. You can get the Paper Crown Blazer ($265.00), which also comes in black, at Chelsea’s in Brentwood (310)471-4770.
Not very often will a trend be both fashionable and comfortable. So, when it comes along we can only hope it stays. It looks like the legging trend has been resurrected from the 80′s and will be with us for a while, certainly long enough to make it a staple in your wardrobe. I have a few pair in different colors and while I don’t wear they with platform heels (though if I was younger I might), I do love wearing them with flats and boots – platform and flat.
I have curated a variety of leggings, to cover the bases for different needs. For those of you who call home a place where the air can get nippy, I found a fab pair of heavy weight leggings at Top Shop for only $68.00 and I found a pair of faux leather leggings that rock by Paper Crown. (Lauren Conrad’s new clothing line that is getting rave reviews). But even if your temps don’t dip into the bitter cold levels, the winter months anywhere make these a great choice. These are definitely getting added to my wardrobe.
Splendid makes a great pair in a light weight fabric that looks smashing with boots or under dresses with flats. If a little detail is what you are looking for Chelsea Brentwood carries a pair by Tart that come with zipper detail at the ankle for a look that has an edge to it. Another great thing is the price, they ring in at $78.00.
What ever your fancy, make sure you had a legging to the wardrobe this fall and I promise you’ll be wearing them for more than a season.

Lauren Conrad debuted her new line, Paper Crown, during New York’s Fashion Week. We were fortunate enough to meet her in person the following week at Coterie and get the skinny on her new Fall 2011 collection. Lauren was personally wearing one of her favorite dresses from the line with a mock zip leather jacket.
Paper Crown is feminine and flirty and features on-trend basics like leather shorts, silk blouses in blush tones, slouchy blazers, tight cocktail dresses, flattering dresses, tiered ruffled maxi dresses (a Conrad staple) and short, flouncy, and belted dresses. Conrad uses very muted color tones that lets you stay in that effortlessly chic aura.
Paper Crown will be launched in Fall of 2011, follow us and as soon as they announce where it will be sold we will let you know. (Insider tip: Chelsea Brentwood will carry the entire collection beginning in August. Call (310)471-4770 for more info).
