Skinny, cropped, distressed and leather paneled are a few of the ways to describe Spring’s jeans. Another way is tangy mango, soothing mint julep, fragrant rose and pale lemon, like the hues of the tastiest sherberts you can imagine. The pastel denim trend continues on from last Spring/Summer with a few new colors thrown in the mix – pale orange, mint green and bleached yellow are the colors already flying off the shelves.

This season the to-die-for jean belongs to Rag & Bone Jeans. Their Hyde leather-paneled skinny jean (front and side view above center) is so crazy cool, it’s a definite must have!!

Get The Look For Less – Ashley Tisdale’s California Cool Look

Last week, Ashley Tisdale, best known for the “High School Musical” movies, was caught rocking a California casual vibe while grabbing a cup of joe in Los Angeles. Ashley donned Free People’s wildly popular faux shearling distressed leather bomber jacket paired with the ideal pair of boots - Jeffery Campbell’s Cavalier western ankle boot with stitch detail (must have been inspired by Isabel Marant’s Berry boot, but much more affordable).

Ashley added a pop of color with her Givenchy red (one of Fall’s strong hue trends) oversized Nightingale shopper. Add a pair of skinny stretch jeans (make sure to cuff above the boot) and comfy, super soft tee and you’re good to go. Loved how she added the perfect amount of trinkets for the finishing touches.

Here’s how to get Ashley’s California cool look for less!!

Guest Editor Chelsea- Spring’s Hottest Trend: Bright Denim

One of my favorite Spring trends is the splash of bright denim we are seeing everywhere. Designers are pushing the trend so heavily that they may actually become as great a commodity as the ever faithful blue jeans, and as celebrities and Royals (aka. Kate Middleton) become huge fans, it’s time we jump on the band wagon and get ourselves a pair!

When selecting which delicious hue you’ll add to your wardrobe, keep in mind that bright reddish corals are surprisingly one of the more flattering hues –  the color compliments most skin tones. Aqua or a bright blues are incredibly versatile and can easily transition back into a winter wardrobe later this year when paired with chunky sweaters and ankle boots.

*Buyers tip- Level 99 is my favorite go-to brand for anything trendy because their prices are reasonable (insurance- in case the trend doesn’t stick around) and their fit and level of comfort is a solid 10…even compared to the more expensive brands!

Here are my picks for the best fits, colors and most importantly bang for your buck!

From My Closet To Yours – Style Tips By Kristin

The Denim Shirt

I’ve been obsessed with my denim shirt these past few days so it’s been working over time and doing double duty. Mine is from American Apparel, but alas it’s not in stock so I gathered up these other amazing options from J Crew, Lucky Brand, Wrangler and Joe’s Jeans (available at Chelsea’s store in Los Angeles).

We’ve all worn our denim shirts casually either with shorts, jeans or cordaroy pants but there is a new way to update your denim shirt. If you want to lend a little edge to your denim shirt and bring it into the realm of chicness, pair it with a pencil skirt – short or below the knee, they both look smashing. For a unique twist wear one side pulled out (ala Taylor Tomasi-Hill below) - my new fav way to wear it, or tuck it in and pair it with a great belt. For more edge I wore mine with my Stuart Weisman over the knee leather boots and my Cynthia Desser droozy necklace and cuff.

Happy Shopping!!

Get The Look For Less – Emmanuelle Alt Voque Paris Editor-In-Cheif

Vogue Paris editor-in-chief Emmanuelle Alt attended her first New York Fashion Week since assuming her new role with the magazine back in early February. She looked stunningly awesome in her signature rock and roll style that she describes as “British high street”… “My jeans are Topshop – I love Topshop. When I go to London my first thing to do is I put my stuff in the hotel and I run to Topshop – they have the best jeans!”

Alt became obsessed with the world of fashion after seeing her first catwalk show at the age of 19. Alt recalled that time saying, “My first fashion show was a Jean Paul Gaultier show when he was at Porte de la Vilette and it was crazy outside. I loved it! I was like ‘Oh wow, this is really funny!’”

Before becoming Editor of Vogue, Alt climbed her way up in the fashion world holding prestigious positions with the magazines Mixte and French ELLE. The business of fashion runs in the family as her mother, Françoise, was a Lanvin and Nina Ricci model in the ’60s and ’70s and her husband, also in the fashion business, is Franck Durand, the artistic director of Isabel Marant.

Pictured here (the paparazzi went crazy for her) at New York fashion week, she donned an Isabele Marant chambray shirt, Joes Jeans and Givenchy ankle booties. Don’t have the funds for Emanuelle’s tres chic look? No worries, we’ve come up with a selection of great finds to get Emanuelle’s look for less.

Bright Colored Denim for Fall

The bright-colored denim trend is far from over! This Fall 2011 there will be more and more designers jumping on the colored bandwagon as shoppers continue to seek denim that is new and different.

Colored denim offers a playful edge to your everyday wardrobe. For Fall, jewel toned denim will be the trend. Putting together an outfit with bright-colored denim is simple if you keep the top half simple in contrast. The safe rule of thumb for colored denim is to keep it classy and chic by sticking with solid neutral color tops or bright complimentary hues to achieve the color-block look.

Denim will never go out of style…it will only continue to reinvent itself and this trend is not only fun but will surely be around for at least a few more seasons.

Chambray is here to stay

Chambray is a very mysterious thing. Season after season it is seen on the runways and in stores, yet never becoming so trendy that it is overplayed. Always second to the more popular starchild denim, chambray seems to hide in the shadows except for a couple of months out of the year when beachy and more nautical-inspired fashions are the norm.

Chambray differs from denim in that it is not a twill fabric, when it is woven – the warp and the weft of the fabric cross equally giving it a 1 x 1 fabric structure. This is known as a chambray structure. This is partly responsible for its lighter appearance as the weft, the lighter unbleached thread, appears on the surface of the fabric. Both sides of chambray are identical meaning it has no right or wrong side.

Chambray was once only used for work-clothes, especially by sailors during wartime-and women were rarely ever seen wearing it. Times have certainly changed! This Spring/Summer 2011, chambray will be better than ever and we are seeing it incorporated into almost every garment style including pants, dresses, shirts, shorts, jackets, scarfs and accessories.

It looks like chambray is here to stay.

Get The Look For Less: Rachel Bilson

Bright color is in full bloom this Spring and celebrities such as Rachel Bilson, Camilla Belle and Olivia Palermo are hot on the trend. All three ladies have been spotted sporting orange blazers worn in exceptionally different ways. While Camilla Belle’s (middle) rocks her color-block ensemble and Olivia Palermo’s (right) creative mens-wear look is unique, we love how effortlessly chic Rachel Bilson pairs creme-colored neutrals and a classic black frame handbag with her blazer.

We love how each piece in Rachel’s look can easily be incorporated into your spring wardrobe. For a completely different look, you can mix the blazer with a pair of Joe’s Jeans and a white burn-out tee. We’ve curated a list of the perfect pieces to emulate Bilson’s high fashion style for a lot less.
