My Love For Isabel Marant Grows Stronger Everyday

Finding myself in Beverly Hills yesterday, with a little extra time to kill, I decided to visit my good friend, Michelle Goodman, at Barney’s. Not that I need an excuse to go to Barney’s;  the store is not only magical but is a feast for the eyes – I always feel special when there.

I was intending on just stopping by to “say hello”, but the new embroidered jeans by Isabel Marant (above) – white on white with studs – had my name written all over them. I knew I would be taxing my credit card to the limit, but those puppies were coming home with me!!

While my limited credit card funds confined my shopping to solely the Isabel Marant jeans, it did not hinder my imaginary Barney’s shopping spree. Which looked something like this!!

Detroit Isn’t Known Just For Autos – Erickson Beamon’s Spring 2013 Collection

While checking out what’s new in Elyse Walker, (Pacific Palisades, CA) Erickson Beaman’s Modern Mogul earrings in a mixture of pastels and bright colors caught my attention. The multi hued danglers would be a great addition to anyone’s spring jewelry buys – it will add a pop of color to white jeans and tee, or take a LBD from wow to WOW.

Erickson Beaman, a creative partnership between Vicki Beamon and Karen and Eric Erickson (all natives of Detroit), has been a driving force in costume jewelry design for nearly 30 years, and have been credited with creating the chandelier earring – which they  do a bang up job of.

 In 1982, the trio, while working for a fashion designer’s runway show in Manhattan began creating their own custom jewelry to complement the fashion designs. The jewelry was an instant success, receiving instant recognition in the fashion world, and led to the founding  of Erickson Beamon. In 1985, Beamon moved to London to form the brand’s European division.

Not only is the Erickson Beamon line sold around the world, but they have done numerous collaborations, working with the late Alexander McQueen and fashion houses such as Donna Karan, John Galliano, Zac Posen, Givenchy to name a few. This perennially cutting edge line enjoys a vast celebrity fan base, ranging from Lady Gaga to Sienna Miller to First Lady Michelle Obama.

The Sensible Wedges

Stiletto’s have made a come back and I couldn’t be happier, they are one of the most flattering and sexy shoes. Platforms seem to be fading but still have a strong presence in stores and on the runway – and they are definitely a lot more comfortable than its sister shoe.

This fall is the season of the wedge, whether they’re platform or flat wedges they are all the rage. The ground is starting to be covered in twigs, fallen leaves and soon all that will be covered in rain and slush, you’ll need a shoe that won’t make you trip, stumble yet still look fantastic. Fall wedges provide that stability while giving you a couple of extra inches  – you gotta love that!!

Delicious Autumn Covetables

I’ve been up in Bay area, specifically Palo Alto, this week, visiting my sister at Stanford Hospital – where I’d like to give all the nurses and doctors who have been so wonderful a huge shout out! The cooler weather and changing leaves on the trees reminds me that it is indeed autumn. Tabitha Simmon’s New Kasia Ankle Boot

Yesterday as I entered the glass doors at Barneys New York in Beverly Hills, intending to visit my girlfriend Michelle – Barney’s personal shopper extraordinaire, I was drawn into the woman’s salon shoe dept. When I saw this Tabitha Simmon’s ankle boot, I realized it had been calling my name (which also comes in an equally enticing cherry red color).

Ten minutes later those boots were on my feet and they couldn’t have looked more divine, but unfortunately with a price tag of $1895.00 they wouldn’t be coming home with me (today that is). After a quick visit with Michelle showing me the latest and greatest Barneys has to offer, I left with visions of Tabitha Simmon’s Kasia boot dancing in my head.

Not wanting to deprive myself I didn’t stop till I found an alternative reality – Lady Luxury’s leather buckle ankle boots ($191.50) did the trick!! Now I can sleep well tonight!

Personalize Your Abode

We all need an overhaul every now and then and our homes are no exception. Everything that goes into creating our personal style extends into constructing surroundings that are an offset of our personality and style. Just as we don’t necessarily wear designers head to toe (boring!!!!) we should mix and match aesthetics and genres in our abode until our space screams ME! Here I have mixed Industrial and Modern Danish with pops of colorful accents.

The only limits are one’s imagination (and possibly one’s checkbook)!
