DKNY’s pre-fall collection, titled Urban Garden, showed more of what DKNY fans have gotten used to – a flirty, fun, feminine collection. The label, inspired by Donna Karan’s daughter Gaby in 1989 and owned by French corporation Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessey since 2001, offered a dress heavy collection (only 2 trouser looks) of crocheted eyelet, buoyant floral and cherry prints, sarong-style tie-waist skirts and many peplum laden silhouettes.
A few of those elements mixed together nicely on one of the standout looks: a party frock with a teal collar, black lace sleeves, and a swingy A-line cut. Another favorite look, a cognac-colored leather t-shirt with a peplum worn with an orange (a popular color throughout) mini skirt.
Pre-fall collections are celebrated for their ease in transgressing summer into fall, and this one is the perfect example. Much of this collection can be worn now and with a black cropped blazer, shrug or cardigan you’ll look ideal come Fall.
